update from Corrie

Our return flights to Canada were scheduled for tonight.

DHL is bringing our package from the High Commission.

Or so we thought.

They have been bringing the package since last Friday.

They forgot.

THIS IS REALLY AFRICA!!!!!!

No one at DHL here knows.....ANYTHING!!!!!!

We planned on changing our flights today before the 4 hr prior to take off rule....but DHL called at 5:40pm to say the package was on the plane and would arrive at the airport at 8:30pm....so keep scheduled flights and pick up package at airport prior to departure.

Okay then.

Ran back to the hotel to pack.

Called 2 taxi's (4 of us travelling and needed one taxi for luggage) and set off the airport.

DHL calls when we arrive to the airport......package didn't make flight.

Uhm.....excuse me? Flight left at 5:30 and we had confirmation that package was on flight.

I proceeded to tell her that DHL in Canada has 24 service.....how is possible that DHL in Africa is so incompetent that it takes more than 5 days to fly a package to a destination 1 hr away (by flight). She had no answers. Promised it will be on the next flight into Addis. I will be on the flight to Nairobi to pick up said package tomorrow if it has not arrived in the morning.

On a positive note.....

A few extra days to drink my beloved machiatos in the morning and hang out with Fikru's friends.

and the best part is that I have....

and an incredibly competent son in Canada who can run a house, take care of the twins and still find time to kayak!!!! LOVE YOU BRYCE!!!!! See you soon!!!!!
