The conservation officer doesn't know if it was in fact a cougar....or just an injured animal hanging out around our horse pen. All I know is the dogs will be let out BEFORE we feed the horses everyday, and the children will not be impersonating Daniel Boone anytime in the near future.

A visitor in the night
A few weeks ago a cougar killed a horse in our small town. Then last week a deer was killed in the pasture of a farm not far from us. This past week our daughter went outside to feed the horses in the morning and this is what she found;

We are very thankful that our horses were not the object of this predator....if in fact that is what it was. My children of course...thought this was very interesting and tracked the blood into the bush to see if they could find the dead animal. I won't discuss the conversation that took place upon their arrival home.....lets just say they will NEVER do that again!

Yikes! I would be a little nervous. We were having quite the frequency of cougars in our old location in Alberta... and I didn worry about our little dogs. With kids, I would be a little wierded-out as well!
now, If I were in your sitruation I would have sat outside all night with my BB gun and waited for your furry friend to start a fight!
The most loveable Dane.
