bye bye baby teeth
Fikru has lost two teeth since coming home and we have learned a new tradition. In Ethiopia the children throw their teeth over the roof of their houses and chant a little phrase about birds.....or something. I'm still hoping to figure this ritual out but Fikru just laughs at me when I question him. He still has a few more to lose so hopefully he will share his little bird secret after the next few fall out. It is so much fun to parent an older child who's history and culture is instilled in the very core of his soul. I am truly blessed!

How awesome is that!? I hope that if he shares more about this tradition with you that you'll post about it on your blog because I'd love to know more about it too!
There is a book called "Throw your tooth on the roof" about tooth fairy traditions aroun d the world...
Hi Corrie,
I asked the girls about this this morning and they said that in Ethiopia you throw your teeth on the roof and ask a bird to come get them so they can have teeth. They were trying to remember the song but couldn't remember anything but waiffy, waiffy & ters (birdy, birdy, teeth). Maybe Fikru could remind them :)
