An adventure

My older children were desperately wanting to attend the airshow that was coming to Cranbrook. I used many excuses to delay purchasing the tickets as a couple of weeks ago a helicopter crashed in a residential area in our town....killing 3 men on board and a young 23 yr old who was walking to the mailbox. That was enough to convince me to forget about attending the airshow....or the airport....or any place that had mechanical tin cans flying above me.

A few days after the accident, I was driving the older ones out to a farm to visit their horses. I had my window rolled down and heard a very loud rumbling noise. I immediately stepped on the gas....trying desperately to outrun the descending helicopter (or so I thought). Caitlynn asked me what in the world I was doing? (120 km in a 60 zone).....I replied with, "Can't you hear the helicopter? It is falling on top of our van!" Caitlynn burst into a hysterical fit of laughter, and said, "Mom, it's the train on the tracks beside you."

I s'pose I need medication, hey Sandi?

Anyway, the older children persisted in badgering me about purchasing some tickets. I finally agreed.....but they had to watch all the You Tube video's on Airshow Accidents, and much to my chagrin, they still wanted to go. So off we went....with a plan to run in the opposite direction if the planes started to get close to the spectator area.

Samuel loved it!!!! He actually thought he was an airplane and would run parallel to them as they took off.

Tsega, on the other hand, was terrified of the overhead traffic and thought the umbrella would save her from any objects that decided to land on her head. (Like mother, like daughter)

And me? Obviously, I survived. I watched the planes very closely and mentally had my plan of escape ready at a seconds notice! I was very relieved to arrive home....safe and sound.

Note: (no pictures of the older children.....I guess they didn't want anyone to know they were related to me.....just in case I decided to start running)
